Bridgette's Fears and Cheers
Ahh, my little Bridgette. Miss Personality Plus. Things to know about Bridgette:
- She's never had a bad day in her life.
- She is first and foremost a "people" dog. She will always approach a human before a dog, but she loves other dogs; that is, as long as Penny approves. If Penny takes exception to another dog, Bridgette will back her up with all of her little snaggle-tooth ferocity.
- Bridgette snacks - as on anything she finds on the sidewalk, in bushes, and at home. I have to quickly snatch up anything I drop, because she's right there to lap it up. I worry about what she finds outside and can't take my eyes off of her for a second.
- Bridgette doesn't walk, she prances.
- Bridette is allergic. She often sneezes both outward and reverse. Sometimes she will sneeze rapidly about 10 times. She doesn't do that often.
I think Bridgette is very comfortable at home with Penny and me, but I suspect she could be a runner. Soon after I brought her home, I went outside to get something from my car. While I "mostly" closed the front door, it wasn't completely closed. When I turned to go back in, Bridgette was in the parking lot apparently looking for me. She came running right to me and I scooped her up. That scared me, especially since we lived on a fairly busy street. From that time on, I will not open the door until both girls are securely fastened into their harnesses and are attached to the leashes held securely in my hand.
I still worry about Bridgette's headlong dive from the couch into the heavy glass table top. It was a hard hit that caused her to stagger. I often wonder if it could have displaced something in her sinus cavity since the hit seemed to be between her two eye. I didn't take her to the vet that time because she seemed to recover fairly quickly, enough to go on a walk. Someday, I may have her exrayed.
Bridgette will lay happily in my arms like a baby and snuggles into my neck during the night. She is my comfort, my little dog baby.
